Introduction to hypnosis as a weapon

“Truth would quickly cease to be stranger than fiction,
once we got as used to it.”
-H.L. Mencken.

Take a person of note, imagine that the events of their life are displayed in a montage.
Then imagine a magnifying glass held in a hand. The hand moves the magnifying glass from life incident to life incident, from selected detail to detail.
If the magnifying glass only shows you what the person is like, after they stubbed their toe or stepped on a nail, or were purposely goaded into anger, then you might think that person were a nasty fellow.
If the magnifying glass only displays moments when the person looked good and attractive, this too would affect your judgment of that person’s worth.
This is one METHOD used to  control your perceptions of others..

It is based upon stage magic show direction of attention.

Now Google “The CIA The Mighty Wurlitzer”

That is the hand.

(In the case of critics of Scientology, their intelligence branch called “OSA” and their minions would be the hand.)

Another overview for those unfamiliar with my material
MIND CONTROL THEORIES IN MASS MEDIA   LINK

Here is one example:  Ms G,  convinced a friend (whose memory is not quite as good as it once was)  named Jessie Prince  that I was involved in sit-down settlement meetings regarding Lawrence Wollersheim with scientology’s cia called OSA. He then told Nancy Many, a very old and close friend I worked with while in the cult, . This one false allegation cost me the friendship of that very old friend.. whom I love dearly. Nancy then distrusted me after hearing this  emotionally charged lie,  thinking there just might be something to it.   When Mr Prince was questioned about this by my wife he claimed he did not recall who told him, then claimed that he had a document to support it and then claimed he would look for it and then, in the end,  said he could not find it. Neither could he find the courage to apologize for the damage done.  But I understand why there is no apology, having learned that the father of weaponized suggestion for OSS, Dr George Estabrooks stated in 1943 that “Everything said to a hypnotized subject is true for them”

Perspective is Everything

The late Theosophist, British Annie Besant (1847-1933) has this to say about the dangers of hypnosis as regards its use, particularly in the West:

“The use of … hypnotism is surrounded by danger. The publicity which attends on all scientific discoveries in the West has scattered broadcast knowledge which places within the reach of the criminally-disposed powers of the most terrible character, which may be used for the most damnable purposes. No good man or woman will use these powers, if he finds that he possesses them, save when he utilizes them purely for human service, without personal end in view, and when he is very sure that he is not by their means usurping control over the will and the actions of another human being. Unhappily the use of these forces is as open to the bad as to the good, and they may be, and are being, used to most nefarious ends.” —Annie Besant, “The Seven Principles of Man” (c. 1899), page 77-78. (Thanks to Fred Haseney for finding this one)

The following is an introduction done as a series of comments on THIS site on the 10th of October. Each time I try to explain this material, I get a little better at it…bear with me.

“From 80 to 90% of the population can be hypnotized to varying degrees…At least 5% (10,000,000) of the U.S. population is extraordinarily hypnotizable, so easily hypnotizable that they are in a constant state of exaggerated suggestibility, even when awake and going about their normal daily routine. They are at the total mercy of all forms of influences and can easily be persuaded to do things and afterward have no idea why they did them…”
Dr. Tobias H. Brocher, Director, Center for Applied Behavioral Sciences, Menninger Foundation, Topeka, KS. 1952

“Contrary to general belief, it has been my experience that the more intelligent the subject, the easier it is to induce hypnosis” Ralph Slater, 1950 Stage Hypnotist, played Carnegie Hall

The old hypnotists express this observation above, claiming this was because intelligent people are able to control their minds better.  This gives hope  to those who have been told they are not so bright because, perhaps all they need to do is to learn to control their thinking better. The word that comes to my mind being ‘discipline’.

Now, if anyone doubts that what  the public at large believe true can  be controlled, compare what most believe the Vietnam War was about with what I have found the truth to be:

Vietnam’s George Washington (More)

Ho Chi Minh was a baker at an upscale NY hotel who worked his way through US university. He loved the USA. During WWII, he and the Vietnamese were provided weapons by the allies. They fought against the Japanese in WWII. On Armistice day, Ho was driving a US Jeep, with American Flags on the corner, with a loudspeaker playing the Star Spangled Banner as he drove all over Hanoi
,

When the Allies “gave” Vietnam “French Indochine” back to the French colonizers, it broke his heart. Unable to get weapons and replacement parts for his US made weapons now used for a battle of Liberation from French Colonialism, he had no other choice, so he turned to the Chinese..

Now some perspective, This song we all know by the Hollies:

Here is the back story:

brother

Readers will note that I have just used the heavy emotion METHOD for good, to ensure that you remember reading this page!!

In the May 1959 edition of the Journal of the Atomic Scientists, Dr Robert Oppenhiemer remarked that the advances in the field of psychology to control what a man believes to be true made the challenges faced by the atomic scientists seem trivial.

Dr. Oppenhiemer used the word trivial

Observe that Americans have not successfully stopped the US Military Industrial War Machine since Vietnam because of the effectiveness of these methods.

The father of American Psychological Warfare,  was psychologist and hypnotist Dr George Estabrooks. He worked for OSS in 1943 (OSS later became the CIA / DIA ) He stated in 1943 that “Anything said to a hypnotized subject is true for them” He also noted that these covert methods of hypnosis and suggestion would only continue to be effective until their targets become familiar with the methods being used upon them.

If a man, immersed in a society where these methods are in play were to learn just one of these METHODS, then to a degree the truth would become a bit more easily visible.

Here is ONE Method. Most are familiar with Goebbels “Big Lie”, and several restatements remarking upon the effectiveness of the Big Lie, but never before in my 60 years have I encountered an explanation such as this one that explains how and why the Big Lie “works” its magic.

The Reverse Blockade

“Reverse Blockade: emphatically insisting upon something which is the opposite of the truth blocks the average person’s mind from perceiving the truth. In accordance with the dictates of healthy common sense, he starts searching for meaning in the “golden mean” between truth and its opposite, winding up with some satisfactory counterfeit. People who think like this do not realize that this effect is precisely the intent of the person who subjects them to this method. ” page 104, Political Ponerology by Andrew M. Lobaczewski

Another METHOD:

When thinking is induced to stop by any means, the door to your subconscious is left unguarded, and anything stated to you during this time is to some degree hypnotic, acting as a direct suggestion to the subconscious.

This was and is what George Bush was referring to as “Shock and Awe”, and is the METHOD, combined with the BIG LIE above, that was used to do 911.

I have learned these strange lessons by a tortuous path, through being hypnotized into joining a cult, scientology, and then spending decades trying to learn how the trick was done. However the lessons gained apply to how we might end conflict in general.

“War is the greatest injustice. We are not fighting the culprits. Those who pay, who incite, who use the media to make people turn against each other – this is who we should fight against.” – Alexey Mozgovoy, commander of the “Ghost” brigade, killed May 23, 2015

You can read the first half of George Estabrook’s 1943 book “HYPNOTISM” here for free (at my expense, I thought it important enough to spend my time and money to web this) :

Various METHODS that I have isolated are described on my blog index pages.

Thank you for your important contribution to our understanding of mind control techniques.

Anyone with a passing interest in psychology is/should be aware that it can work for both good and evil and many early mass experiments were conducted

Yes, you are correct, In the 50’s my family doctor in Washington DC, who made house calls, wore a tweed jacket and bow tie. The AMA (American Medical Society) told doctors to wear a white lab coat, because it gave them more authority.Authority hypnosis works well for good however clinical practitioners of hypnosis are warned NOT to use it because it creates psychological dependency.

Master manipulators will exploit this feature.

I believe that these (and other) methods, which I learned deconstructing a cult which uses them to induce a normal human being to end up believing all sorts of silly things including about an evil alien warlord named XENU and that your body is infested with space cooties are the same METHODS being used to create terrorists. Only the shore story and stage setting are different.

The use of CAPTAGON, a nasty methedrine related concoction used by ISIS, helps.

“You had to attack civilians, the people, women, children, innocent people, unknown people far removed from any political game. The reason was quite simple: to force … the public to turn to the state to ask for greater security.” — A defendant, from Operation Gladio

Brain Damage for The Profit

Anything that damages the areas of the brain associated with conscience or violent reaction would be helpful if you wanted to create terrorists. Incidentally, the area of the brain just above and behind your ear, is where the violence response lives…. and cell telephones irradiate this area.

Thanks for your comment, very informative. And special thanks for the reminder of comrade Mozgovoi.

His statement frames the problem of war in a manner giving perspective to life itself and reminded me of a quote I crafted and reposted to try to help Americans think past the emotional keys being played upon the “The Mighty Wurlitzer” of controlled and choreographed media and false flags.

“Those who think own us,
keep us at each other’s throats,
to prevent our uniting at theirs.”

False flags in America go back to the US Civil War, when the head of the notorious KKK  actually dissolved the organization, after finding that it was Yankee infiltrators who intentionally choregraphed the ugliest atrocities that were  successfully used to enrage  northerners to support the US Civil War in 1860.

Democracy is a stage setting for fascism when what the public believe true is controlled by a handful of oligarchs behind closed doors.

And we are running out time.

@ Arnie

bummer, lost my post, continuing…

… during the first decades of TV transmission in Yankland hidden subliminal messages were presented in normal programming glorifying the USA and its government. Don’t know whether it is still practised, but I guess there are nowadays more efficient means to produce identical results.

In my studies on the subject in late 1970s I came across the most blatant use of TV broadcasts for mass indoctrination: to convince the Samoans to agree to become an administrative territory of the US. A referendum had been conducted, apparently supervised by the UN, and they rejected any association with the US. No problem; very soon the islanders saw TV come to them and receivers freely given away. After an adequate time for the message to sink in another referendum was held and, surprise surprise, the Samoans saw how democracy works and voted yes.

If you follow my links you would have come to the article from which I quote Dr Robert Oppenhiemer. That article is about those subliminal advertisements.

The Ethics of Tachistocopy” in the May 1959 Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists..

The man who wrote it is an interesting character:

“This was for many psychologists, a most sobering observation. The possibility of controlling human behavior becomes a more terrifying prospect than the control of nuclear reactions”

And note who this gentlemen represents:

Arthur (Art) J. Bachrach (born March 20, 1923 – December 19, 2011) was an American psychologist and administrator, who was Professor and Chairman of the Department of Psychology at Arizona State University, and Director of the Environmental Stress Program and Chair of Psychophysiology at the Naval Medical Research Institute at the Naval Medical Center in Bethesda.

Good thing Milton Erickson never got together with Estabrooks! Then we would all be in trouble. Dr Erickson could put a member in the audience under a deep trance without looking at them or mentioning them, just after the person asked a question. Some people are ethical and some are not.

Well, perhaps as troubling, in the book “The Letters of Milton Erickson” is correspondence between Dr Erickson and Dr Stanley Milgram!

In those letters they refer to that work we did for the government.

This should concern you as much or more than what you posited!

George Estabrooks ghost wrote a little novel in 1947, supposedly a fiction work, titled “Death in the Mind” It was about the creation of spies using hypnosis. My gut feeling after putting this one down (in almost a cold sweat) was this ‘fiction’ work was Dr Estabrook’s effort to relieve a guilty conscience for the work he did for OSS. I believe it was his effort to warn us. Some of these supposed crazed lone gunmen shooters come to mind…

Another mind blowing factoid… ALL the old hypnotists remark in their own words that intelligent people make the best hypnotic subjects. Most of them take the time to mention that they believed this was due to the fact that intelligent people were able to control their minds better.

=====

Another METHOD, is repetition, however, like the big lie above, everyone knows that repetition works but no one explains WHY repetition works. What you will find out also manifests in crowds. I find this view elegant and simple compared to Le Bon’s work “The Crowd” . LINK to The secret of repetition

Additional reference materials and entire books can be found HERE

Dr Joost Meerloo’s book Rape of the Mind, as well as Delusion and Mass Delusion are available at the prior link.

In 1997, in a FOIA lawsuit, a CIA Interrogation Manual was declassified. Having spent considerable time scanning and webbing, Dr Meerloo’s “Rape of the Mind” ten years prior, I was stunned to find Rape of the Mind listed in a footnote in the KUBARK Interrogation Manual. (Kubark is a word substitution cipher for the CIA, one of many)

The footnote read… that interrogators would benefit by getting know their own minds better. And there it was! Joost Meerloo’s Rape of the Mind! A book written by a Swedish Psychiatrist and M.D. who was detained in Holland during the Nazi occupation and released during a jail break through the efforts of the French Resistance’!. The book is what he learned during the NAZI occupation. The psychology of totalism.

Another METHOD is revealed on page 45 of that manual, called The Confusion Technique, I webbed several pages about that method HERE but I find the Kubark version is easier to understand.

Arnie,
Thanks so much for sharing, it is fabulous to finally understand what has happened in my life, and what is happening in the outside world. I must never let anyone or anything ever keep me from my critical thinking mind. As for all of the participants in the café keep up the good work, love the poetry and information. I will continue to frequent this site as I have for the last few years.

Yes. Did they do the experiment to expose the sorry condition of the US people and mind control or to explore it further for use by the state? The thought occurred to me yesterday when I read the original post. It reminded me of bizarre events like Laura Bush saying her favorite ‘book’ [sic] was The Legend of the Grand Inquisitor. I immediately thought: Did she take the side of the silent Christ or of the Grand Inquisitor? (Dostoyevsky foresaw the coming birth of the foul Leo Strauss and others like him). This post of yours has helped me confirm my hunch about Laura’s choice.

Thank you.
1) I wish someone had explained this to me a half century ago.
(Would I have listened?)

2) I wish someone would explain this better. The problem I have encountered that several times I have sat down and explained all of this to a person. It tends to destabilize them. It is better parceled out by the shot glass instead of a shower. Too much at one time washes away too many pillars of false belief systems, at one time. This material should be digested slowly, like a good meal..

Thank you for your insights re: mind control.
I note your reference to Dr. Stanley Milgrim.
I’d like to pursue Milgrim’s work and findings related to gender differences.

Any suggestions?

Re Milgram

I did not go in that direction, as Milgram’s material scares the poop out of those capable of understanding it, and he explains it better than I ever could, and with authority. I wanted to know how a certain operative destroyed my best friend, millionaire Robert Minton, and why an innocent simple man, named Shawn Lonsdale, who was trying to give his life meaning, ended up supposedly committing suicide.
